Pregnancy Update

The picture here shows our dam, Lucy on day 41 of her pregnancy. With an average gestation of 60 days for Ridgebacks, the puppies will be arriving soon. The average litter for this breed is 8 though our Veterinarian thought she might be carrying as many as 11!

It's time to set up the whelping pen and organize those supplies.

Lucy is healthy, happy and content with being pregnant. She is eating so much more than usual but we joke and say she's "eating for 12". She loves the excellent foods she is offered and cannot wait for her morning and evening chicken.

The main difference we see in her is on our walks. Because we live on a large property Lucy can free run - and run she usually does, but lately they have been more like strolls in the park.
